My Mint Obsession

They are showing the color MINT everywhere.  I am going to be so bold as to say it is THE COLOR of the season!  And I love it.  I am actually obsessed with it!  After a long long winter season, during which there seemed to be no end in sight, wearing the color mint makes me think of the ice cream man, playing in a sprinkler, bike rides, snow cones, the beach and playing outside until the fireflies come out. It is no wonder that mint ice cream is my youngest's favorite flavor.

When I got my first glimpse of a Vince Camuto mint bag at Nordstrom in early February, I was immediately drawn to the color.  I eventually decided to go with the Coach mint Legacy Leather Minnie Duffel as my go to bag for the season.  It is pictured below.

The Coach mint leather is the perfect shade of mint.  Another good, less expensive choice is this mint tote from the Gap.

I saw it on one of my favorite blogs (melanieknopke.com) and had to check it out for myself.   Cute and functional (can use it as a pool tote, work tote, tote around tote).

But my fanaticism did not stop there.  Why should it?  I then went on to purchase some mint colored tops.  One of my favorites is this top.

I found it at a boutique in my area called Illusions by Jill.  Illusions is located in Lincolnshire, Illinois and they are on Facebook.

I could go on about my mint purchases (yes, I did buy mint denim too), but suffice it to say that the mint aqua blue color has beckoned to me as well.  Check out the Sam Edelman GiGi in Mojito Ombre.

If you are someone who is more comfortable dressing in gray/black/brown, and you aren't ready to take the mint plunge.  That's okay.  Maybe you don't want to invest too much money in this seasonal trend (although some of my mint pieces will transition to fall, you'll see).  Then, just try a splash of mint, like these flip flops from the Gap.

Or you can just polish your fingers and toes in mint. Two of my favorites are by OPI (Gargantuan Green Grape) and by Deborah Lippmann (Mermaid's Dream).  FYI, the Deborah Lippmann is well worth the price of about $19 a bottle as the color goes on smoothly and even better, seems to last on my nails well over a week.

So,  I don't think you have to go MINT crazy like me in order to just add a splash of it to your wardrobe.  A couple of weeks ago, my pal, Lindsay, joked that one day I should outfit myself in mint from head to toe.  That probably would not do much for my fashion blogging credibility.  After you read this post, you may be of the opinion, however, that a "Mintervention" for me may be more apropos!
