Ode to Discount Clothes Shopping

In honor of yesterday's Grand Opening of the Fashion Outlets of Chicago in Rosemont, Illinois, today's post is about some of the great finds you can find at discount clothes retailers.  Since I was not able to make it to Rosemont yesterday (crazy kids' camp schedules), I thought for those readers who are local, I would feature two real close by stores where you can find great buys on great fashion:  Target and T.J. Maxx.  For those of you not in the area, these are national retailers so you may be able to find these items at your local store or in the case of Target, online.

First, a bit about Fashion Outlets of Chicago.  Here is what I know.  It is an enclosed outlet mall located in Rosemont with something like 130 stores and restaurants.  There are a lot of high end retailers, like Prada, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Tory Burch (yeah!).  You should check out their website for the full list of retailers.

So, I just happened to stumble upon this pair of flip flops at Target while buying my kids their "leave at school gym shoes".  They were on clearance for $4.48 from $14.99, which isn't a bad price either.  They seem to be pretty comfortable (wearing them in the house), and they run almost true to size (you may need to size up).  They come in this seafoam blue, a pink, and I discovered a black version offered at the full price of $14.99 on the Target website.  They are called the "Loma Flip Flop".

Below are three great finds I discovered at the Vernon Hills T.J. Maxx, but they had tons of cute summer sleeveless tops for less than $20.

These tops below have a pleather accent (very in style) and were $16.99.

It may be hard to tell from the photo above, but the top on the right is a teal color and on the left, a gray color.  At first I liked the gray, but then decided on teal because I keep seeing a lot of teal around.  Teal continues to be a hot color for fall.

The next top just caught my eye.  It looked like it would cost more than the $12.99 price tag.  I am going through a navy blue phase right now (liking lots of navy).  Navy is classic, a little nautical, and can transition well into fall.

Generally, I love it when I am able to hit the T.J. Maxx Home Store in Mundelein because they carry many higher end brands, but I had great success at the Vernon Hills store this week.  Maybe next month, look for a post on the Mundelein T.J. Maxx, and of course, I will hit the Fashion Outlets of Chicago come September, you can bet on it!
