As promised in my previous post, I ventured into my local (25 minutes away. I wish there was a closer one) Hot Mama store Wednesday to see what new merchandise they had. Cute, cute, cute. I tried on some cute striped sleeveless blouses. Liked those. I had previously had my eye on the True Grit Ikat Chino shorts. Ikat shorts are very in right now. These True Grit shorts go great with a white top, but can pair well with anything, especially oranges and pinks. I loved them with the G1 Jane Jacket by Paperboat.
Then I tried the XCVI Lovejoy pant in black paired with a Michael Stars Slub VNeck in "Crest":
On Wednesday, I was wearing my pair of XCVI "Variete" style crop pants from last spring and was loving them. They are so comfortable. So I thought I'd give these a try. I had never considered wide leg pants before. It wasn't that I did not like the trend, but I've been so preoccupied with finally being able to wear all the capris I have - that I just overlooked this adorable style. Now, I think I am hooked on this trend. Don't worry, I won't trade in all my mint pieces for wide leg pants, but I am going to really enjoy wearing these.
The fabric is so soft that the pants are beyond comfortable. They feel like I am wearing my favorite pair of yoga pants, but I don't feel any pressure to work out. That alone is reason enough for me to wear them every day. Then again, when last year's shorts start to feel a little snug, I am back to the gym, for sure.
I even did a little research on the wide leg pants trend, and a blog, which I have just begun to follow, Lipstick and Lollies gives the wide leg pants a thumbs up. That blog also shows lots of cute patterned pants which make me think back to those cute ikat shorts I saw yesterday. You may see me going back to Hot Mama for those.
The Michael Stars t-shirt has a good fit too, and the indigo blue color is a good addition to my wardrobe. I can get lots of use out of this top this summer.
One last note about the pants, and I've been saying this a lot lately. They are so cute that they are well worth the $98 price tag because... I can wear them now, and then in the fall as well. If there ever was a piece of clothing that could transition from spring to fall, it is these pants.
