Now, on to fall fashion trends. I've been criticized for not tackling this subject head on sooner. However, I have included reference to some of the big trends in recent posts, and let's face it, it has been in the 70s and 80s in Chicago most days so who has been wearing their fall fashion? Plus, who besides me, has really started shopping for sweaters and jeans? Most moms wait until they feel the chill in the air to start thinking about fall clothes, or until they take a look at their closet from last year and start thinking about what they need.
This post is just an FYI about what's trending this year. I really like the styles they are showing. You don't have to buy into each trend, but here's what you are going to see a lot of:
Statement Coats: I have mentioned previously that I am having a jacket fetish this year, and that's because there are so many cute styles out there. I mean, no sooner did I write this, and I got an email from Nordstrom titled "Top Trends for Fall Coats." There's wool, faux fur, sherpa lined, knit sleeves, a dash of pleather. There is so much to choose from. The styles vary as much as our tastes do, but here's too cool coats from Hot Mama:
This first one, by BB Dakota, has a cape style to it, and is ombre colored, which I love. I saw capes come back about 2 years ago, and they seem to be really big this year too.
The second is by Jack, and is really classy looking. Love the belt!
The Moto Trend: This trend is all that pleather I keep telling you about. Pleather is huge, and so are studs and embellishments. Here's a great moto jacket from Hot Mama. It is a really cool shade of brown, and it has quilting, which is also a big trend in boots, handbags and jackets.
Tribal Inspired: This trend is huge, and I am really into it. I love a little boho look. It's super fun and laid back. It was big in the summer and is here to stay for awhile. I could probably do a whole post on all the tribal inspired wear I have seen.
Here's a picture of me from last week's Priceless boutique fashion show wearing the tribal look. You cannot see the sleeves, but they are cut out so that they are open. This top is also now on sale at Hot Mama.
Illusions by Jill in Lincolnshire, Illinois had some great tribal inspired cardigans. One was cuter than the next:
And Alice B. in Buffalo Grove, Illinois had some great tribal inspired cardigans as well. Look how adorable these are:
Military and Camouflage:
I have seen a lot of military-styled coats at Nordstrom this year. It is a great tailored look for fall. Check this out: this cute military looking jacket is actually from Target.
This outfit below is from Alice B. I have seen all sorts of camo bottoms from leggings to jeans. There is so much you can match to a good camo print like this one.
I am also crushing on a cute camouflage printed legging with zippers at the bottom on the Splendid website that comes in three shades of camo (blue, green and gray).
Hot Hues-Cobalt and Wine:
Cobalt blue is the hot color for Fall 2013. All the magazines and fashion designers advise pairing the cobalt blue with black. Cobalt is cool and it is catchy. I have seen a lot of it around, and it is one color trend I really like. Can I even say that cobalt is the new mint? For me, at least until, March 2014!
Here is a cobalt and black sweater that also draws in the pleather trend. The sweater is from Priceless in Vernon Hills, Illinois, and it is super fashionable:
One store where I saw a lot of cobalt blue and black was Target, and Target had some great pieces. Check these trendy fashions out:
This dress is super easy to wear with black tights and black boots, and it comes in gray too (for those reluctant to try cobalt).
I thought this top from Target was cool, too. It has a sheer back and looks great on:
The other color that is hot for Fall 2013 that I really like is a wine or berry color. I've seen a lot of this in stores.
This cute top below is from Illusions by Jill.
This top, I previously posted on my blog, is from Footloose in Deerfield, Illinois.
Other colors that the fashion magazines tout as hot for fall are red, teal, and wearing white both on top and bottom.
Color Blocking: The last hot trend I am going to blog about today is color blocking. It was big in the spring, and is really big for fall. I have seen some really cool cobalt blue and black color blocking and black and white color blocking. Here's a cool color block look from Hot Mama:
