It's My Birthday and I'll Shop if I Want To

I celebrated my birthday this past Thursday.  Our kids are always looking forward to their next birthday.  All year long, they talk about their wishlist.  My daughters start planning their birthday parties a year in advance.  They pre-plan all the details from where it is going to be, to who they are going to invite, to planning the menu and designing their cake.  Us moms don't usually look forward to our birthdays.  Mostly, because it means we're another year older, but also because it is just another day in the life.  So, true to form, my kids fought, whined, teased each other, and expected me to wait on them hand and foot (as usual).

I took it upon myself to find some birthday fun, which I did at Alice B. in Buffalo Grove where one of the owners, Karen, shares the same September 12 birthday as me.  In fact, the store was providing a 10% discount that day for wishing Karen "Happy Birthday," and you got 15% off if you sang "Happy Birthday" to Karen.

I walked out with this great outfit, which I am really excited to wear this fall and winter.

Notice that the gray top is three separate pieces: two layers and a scarf.  Some other great fashion that I found at Alice B. is pictured below:

I loved this skirt below.  The owners recommended pairing it with a blue denim jacket, and I agree that it would look awesome!

Once again, I have to put out another plug for pleather.  It is a must to add to your wardrobe this fall.  The top below with the pleather sleeves is a great piece to bring a little pleather into your life.

After shopping at Alice B., I enjoyed lunch with two of my closest friends.  Soon after, I drove my kids to their after school activities, and then, proving once again that a mom's birthday is just another day in the life, I ended my day with a PTO meeting.  I returned home to get the best present of all: hugs and kisses from the three people that call me mom.
