Both of my grandmothers loved to shop. My parents both love to shop. I have a sister who loves to shop, especially for unique decorative items for her home, and I have a brother who has been known to do some serious shopping damage, as well. The shopper gene is so strong that I have said that I can shop anywhere, even at a gas station mini-mart. In fact, a couple years ago, on a return trip of a family vacation, I managed to pick up some priceless treasures at the World's Largest Truck Stop in Walcott, Iowa off I-80. Does this detract from my credibility as a fashion blogger?
It might, but what I found a week ago at the opening day of the French Market (held at the Vernon Hills, Illinois train station) will put to rest any doubt you may have. Would you believe that I found some great fashion pieces in a train station parking lot? Well, these just aren't any pieces, these are Beijo Bags, featured in People Magazine, on the Tyra Banks Show and a multitude of fashion magazine layouts.
The grand opening of the Vernon Hills French Market took place on Saturday, June 1. Among, the fruits, vegetables, seasonings and bakery items, I met Veronica Otten-Goldman, president of CVG Associates-Beijo bags. These bags are eye-catching. They are different from anything you would see in a department store, and there are so many styles to choose from. Best of all, most of the styles come in 5 to 10 different colors.
Veronica invited me to her showroom in Riverwoods, Illinois, and these are just some of the many styles that are available:
One of my favorites was the "Follow Me Backpack."
This is a very popular and functional style for moms. The bag can be carried as a shoulder bag or worn as a backpack. It is perfect for traveling.
I found the pink color to be stunning. It reminds me of Kate Spade:
I've really been enjoying the crossbody bags I have. They are perfect for everyday errand running if you do not need to carry a ton of stuff. The "Hip Essentials" bag in platinum is really cute and is reasonably priced around $65.
The clutches are also perfect for a night out or a dressy occasion. I loved this snakeskin one:
There is a bag for everyone and every purpose. Veronica has cute diaper bags and business bags as well.
These bags are designed by Susan Handley and sold by independent fashion consultants. It is one of those businesses where you can host a shopping party and earn rewards for hosting based on the party sales. The great thing about the Beijo bags is that they are fashionable, useful, are reasonably priced (most bags are around $100 or so but see the website for specific prices), and Veronica does not pressure you into doing a party and is not pushy in terms of purchasing a bag at all.
You can see all the styles and great colors of Beijo bags at http://www.vogoldman.beijobags.com. Veronica can be contacted at VMOG@comcast.net.
If you are local, you can also find her at the Vernon Hills French Market at the Vernon Hills Train Station on Saturdays from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm June through October 19 (Veronica will not be there this Saturday 6/15, but she will be there 6/22).
It is always fun to stumble upon a great "shopping opportunity," especially when you are merely looking to buy some fresh locally grown strawberries. With the start of summer and lots of markets and fairs to go to, who knows what else I will find to blog about. But how great would it be to walk through these fairs and markets with the Beijo "Follow me Backpack" on my back?
