The Search

What ever happened to the "lazy days of summer"?  Today, I am one week into my kids' summer vacation, and I have not had a second to breathe.  I have been busy driving my three school-age kids to day camps, mini-classes, sports activities, playdates (the younger one), "hangouts" (the older ones), and  sleepovers.  And I desperately need to find time to get my haircut.  So, it seems kind of ironic that the topic of this post is how much I love the search for new fashion.

As we all know, trying to find the right pair of shoes for a special occasion, takes time; trying to find jeans we like and that fit good, takes time; finding a dress, takes time; and buying a swimsuit--that takes time, patience and usually a Miraclesuit.  My time seems to be in short supply lately, but I think that is just a temporary matter.  And some people would say (you know who you are), "you have a couple of kids in camp all day, what can you possibly do with all your free time?"

Well, here's what I'd like to do with my time.  Okay, some of it.  I want you, my readers, to know that I welcome your feedback through comments (which are at the bottom of each post) or email.  I would love to know what fashion items you are looking for and need help finding.  I love helping my friends find what they need.  In the last week, I have helped a friend find shoes for a cocktail party, advised another friend on casual dresses and helped another friend find a pair of styling summer shoes for everyday.  Some mornings, I help my husband match his clothes, but that is a whole other matter, trust me!  I also would love to hear what trends and styles you would like to read about.

The outfit I am posting about today is just a simple, everyday, shuffling the kids around outfit that works in this cool weather we are having in Chicago right now.  It's a great, trendy outfit with pieces purchased at outlets, discount stores or even with a great coupon from the newspaper.

The jeans are capris, actually.  Amateur photography!!  They are Joe's Jeans, purchased at T.J. Maxx last year for a great price.  The top is by Wilt, which was a great find at Last Call by Neiman Marcus, the outlet store.  The scarf (note the hints of mint on it) was a Carson Pirie Scott buy, and I have seen similar versions of this scarf at two other stores.  While on the subject of scarves, scarves are in, and they are a great find because they can dress up a t-shirt or old sweater in two seconds.  More on that, in a future post!

So, the moral of this long story is, if you need help finding something, send me an email.  There are great pieces (and prices) to be found all over.  Or, if you want to suggest future post material, I am listening!
